Join the Parliamentary Security Service and help safeguard Queensland's democratic heart. You will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for Members of Parliament, staff, and visitors within the Parliamentary Precinct.

The Parliamentary Security Officer (Day Worker) position is a weekday role (Monday - Friday) with varied hours between 7am and 6pm, offering a 38-hour work week.

The following positions are available:

  • 1 x permanent appointment.
  • 1 x temporary appointment (up to 12 months).

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service across access and reception points.
  • Monitor security systems and respond to incidents from the Control Room.
  • Conduct patrols, static guard duties, and assist with emergency evacuations.
  • Support Members, staff, and visitors with professionalism and discretion.
  • Liaise with State and Civil Authorities when required.
  • Provide first aid response as needed.

Your Key Strengths

  • 3–5 years' experience in a security environment (control room, scanning, metal detection).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Open driver's licence required; advanced first aid and security qualifications desirable.
  • Quick to learn emergency and security procedures specific to the Parliamentary Precinct.
