Principal Emergency Management Officer

Working within Regulation and Operations Support (ROS), you will contribute to the development and upkeep of the Department’s emergency management framework, ensuring the Department is well-prepared to handle, respond to, and recover from any disaster or emergency situation. 
In this role, you will support the Manager and Executive Director of ROS, act as the primary point of contact for the DLGWV District Disaster Management Group (DDMG) representatives, and oversee all aspects of managing that workforce.

The Role
Operating from Regulation and Operations Support (ROS), you will support the development and maintenance of the Department's emergency management framework, to ensure the readiness of the Department to prepare for, respond to and recover from any type of disaster or emergency event. 
You will assist the Manager and Executive Director ROS, be the Key Contact for the DLGWV District Disaster Management Group (DDMG) representatives and be responsible for all aspects of managing that workforce.
Key Accountabilities:
• Represent the department as a Liaison Officer at the State Disaster Control Centre and support the State Disaster Coordination Group representative and Director-General as required.
• Provide leadership and management of the Emergency Operations Support Team, including creating rosters in emergency events. 
• Coordinate and finalise the drafting, writing and design of operational documents such as plans handbooks, cabinet submissions and correspondence.
• Proactively monitor and progress emergency training requirements for all staff with a disaster role or responsibility. 
• Develop and deliver preparedness activities including the conducting of exercises to test and validate plans and procedures.
• Represent the Manager on committees and working groups, to ensure interoperability between divisions and teams, particularly emergency management arrangements across government and the broader water sector.
About You
• There are no mandatory requirements for this role, however, experience in a similar role is highly regarded. 
• Flexible work location arrangements will be considered for this opportunity to facilitate an adaptive and agile workforce. The successful candidate may work from a regional or Brisbane based location.
• Frequent travel to Brisbane for up to a week at a time may be required to meet the operational requirements of the role.
