The DTET regional network provides localised service delivery across the departmental priority areas of employment and training. The effective departmental service delivery is achieved through the regulation of the state's apprenticeship and traineeship system; strategic training and skills investment strategies; informing consumers about the suite of departmental programs; supporting a quality vocational
education and training (VET) sector; and providing whole of government leadership on employment and training issues.
About the role
As the Field Officer, you will:
• Identify opportunities and undertake activities which advocate and promote the benefits of training, skills development; VET pathway options and workforce development to clients and stakeholders including employers, training organisations, community-based organisations, enterprises, and individuals.
• Participate in the monitoring of stakeholder performance through a process of continuous improvement and stakeholder education and capacity building.
• Strengthen the vocational education and training system in the region by developing and maintaining professional collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders through a wide range of capacity building initiatives and project management activities.
• Provide a high-level service in the application of relevant corporate governance procedures of the department including team building, quality service delivery, project management, customer satisfaction, record keeping, occupational health and safety, supervision of staff when required, employment equity and anti-discrimination practices.
What we are looking for
The position requires an applicant who has:
• Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, the vocational education and training sector in Queensland; workforce development issues impacting on Queensland workplaces and the programs administered by the department.
• An ability to research, collect and analyse data, investigate issues, manage projects, make decisions and recommendations to achieve regional objectives within a corporate governance framework.
• An ability to develop and maintain a positive work environment by adopting a principled approach, and ensuring advice provided to colleagues, internal and external stakeholders and clients is timely, accurate, appropriate and of high quality.
• An ability to take personal responsibility for timely and accurate completion of work and commit energy and drive to ensure that business unit/regional objectives are achieved.
