About your role
As a Switchboard Officer at Redland Hospital, you'll be the first point of contact for both internal and external callers, ensuring clear, courteous, and timely communication across the hospital network.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operate switchboard and telecommunication systems efficiently and professionally.
- Ensure calls are transferred or redirected correctly and in a timely manner.
- Maintain accuracy in on-call rosters and electronic telephone directories.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency and security response situations.
- Support data integrity and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist in training new administrative staff and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Uphold high standards of customer service, confidentiality, and safety.
About you
You're an organised and calm communicator who enjoys helping others and working in a busy, team-oriented environment. You take pride in delivering excellent customer service and maintaining accuracy under pressure.
You will bring:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands effectively.
- Proven teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when required.
- Sound problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Intermediate computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Understanding of confidentiality and professional discretion in all communications.

Redland Hospital is the major health centre for adults and children in the Redlands and Brisbane's southern bayside suburbs.
