The Office of the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage (OGBR&WH) drives Reef health outcomes by coordinating Queensland’s Reef strategies and programs including the Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan, the Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan and the Queensland Reef Water Quality Program. OGBR&WH also manages Reef report cards, regional waterway health partnerships and the Queensland Reef Assist Program.
As part of the Reef Programs Team, you’ll manage Reef Place-Based Integrated Projects aimed at improving water quality, promoting sustainable land management and supporting local communities. You’ll oversee contracts, ensure milestones and budgets are met and contribute to program design and stakeholder engagement.

Your contribution:
As a Senior Policy Officer, you will manage workloads to meet deadlines, contribute to project planning, delivery, and evaluation, and maintain project documentation such as plans, risk registers, and budgets. The role involves providing advice to management, resolving issues, and fostering effective relationships with stakeholders, industry, and government. Additionally, you will be conducting research, offering technical and policy advice, preparing ministerial correspondence and briefings, and representing the Department at meetings.

About you:
You will be a proactive individual who demonstrates strong leadership behaviours, project management expertise, and the ability to deliver results in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have proven research and problem-solving skills to address complex environmental and water quality issues in reef catchments, along with knowledge of agricultural land management, contemporary practices and relevant policies. Strong communication, consultation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet organisational goals. You embody leadership behaviours, champion workplace safety, & foster equity, diversity, respect, & inclusion by bringing your unique perspectives to the team.
