About the Team

The Putting Queensland Kids First (PQKF) program is a statewide initiative aimed at improving the development and early lives of Queensland's children by focussing on the critical window of opportunity between conception to five years of age. The program aims to positively influence a child's health, development, learning, safety, and lifelong outcomes through enhanced service offerings and coordination in the community context. The Program has recently moved into its next phase of delivery under a business-as-usual model within Children's Health Queensland (CHQ).

About the Role

The Child Development Clinical and Engagement Consultant – PQKF will provide strategic direction, authoritative counsel and leadership in the implementation of child development related priorities identified within the Putting Queensland Kids First program. This leadership will extend across the three areas of statewide responsibility for CHQ as it relates to child development services including;

  1. Statewide Clinical Governance, Workforce Development and Networked Care
  2. Statewide Leadership in Clinical Training and Development
  3. Statewide Systems Leadership in Community Digital Design

The role will work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders across Queensland to promote an integrated and clear approach to the implementation of the PQKF program initiatives with a specialised focused on developmental services. The role will ensure that Child Development clinical services are supported through PQKF initiatives to be delivered to a high standard, optimising the capability of the workforce and adhering to principles of best practice across the state

Your contribution will include: 

  • Provide strategic leadership and advocacy related to the implementation of child development PQKF initiatives in the transition phase from Department of Health, shaping current and future health care services for children with developmental needs across Queensland. This includes but is not limited to the planning, change management and informing ongoing support needs for all Hospital and Health Services (HHS's) state-wide.
  • Apply expert level knowledge of Queensland child development services and networks, to identify and review complex workflow problems, which improve service outcomes for children and young people with developmental needs across the state.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development of critical data, evaluation and education processes, systems and opportunities for child development services across the state to assist in driving activity and informing future investment requirements for PQKF in future years.
  • Provide expert level advice to the PQKF leadership and CHQ Executive teams and make recommendations accordingly, to inform state-wide and strategic agendas relating to PQKF program initiatives.
