About your role
In this rewarding role, you'll be part of the Disaster Flood Team working across Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services to promote recovery, resilience, and wellbeing following disaster events.
Key responsibilities include:
- Sharing your lived experience to inspire hope and model recovery strategies.
- Supporting individuals, families, and communities to build resilience and connect with services.
- Delivering education and training to enhance understanding of recovery frameworks.
- Working collaboratively with service providers, community groups, and emergency services.
- Assisting in the development of community resilience workshops and recovery initiatives.
- Promoting inclusion, respect, and person-centred approaches across all interactions.
About you
You are someone with a strong personal recovery foundation who is passionate about supporting others through authentic connection and hope.
You will also have:
- Experience providing peer support in mental health or community settings.
- The ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and advocacy skills.
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented practice and self-care principles.
- A willingness to travel across Metro South Health's catchment area as needed.
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or Community Services or willingness to obtain is highly desirable.
Under S25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to have a personal lived/living experience of mental health challenges and/or substance use challenges.
