About you
The ideal applicant will demonstrate capability in the following requirements:
- A thorough knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire thorough knowledge, of TIA Act and the Telecommunications Interception Act 2009 (Qld) and the policies and procedures relating to the CCC's exercising of the powers under the TIA Act.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex legal and factual issues and provide expert legal advice.
- Demonstrated experience developing policies and procedures and establishing systems to monitor compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills including the capacity to build and sustain positive and effective relationships with other team members, senior management, Commission officers and external stakeholders.
- High level organisational skills, the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines in a high-pressure work environment.
- A high level of appreciation of confidentiality requirements and the ability to develop processes and interact within a highly confidential environment.
- Practising experience that demonstrates:
- your knowledge of criminal law and administrative law;
[Note: Other practising experience in areas relevant to the CCC's work, such as local government and employment law, will be favourably regarded.] - advocacy skills that reflect an ability to effectively examine witnesses in the context of CCC investigative hearings, and to make applications for warrants and other authorities; and/or
- the ability to conduct civil, criminal or quasi-criminal litigation in Queensland and Australian courts and Tribunals, including QCAT;
- thorough knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire thorough knowledge, of the Crime and Corruption Act 2001, the Criminal Code (Qld), the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth) and other relevant legislation.
- high level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare written advice, briefs of evidence, court documents and complex reports and correspondence.
- demonstrated capacity to build and sustain positive and effective relationships with other team members, establishing priorities, developing sound solutions and participating in the development of improvements to work practices.
- your knowledge of criminal law and administrative law;
