In the role of Principal Advisor (Reporting) you will lead the reporting and analysis for the department's annual Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) publication, including preparing and reviewing related information for state and federal budgetary processes, Estimates Committee Hearings, and whole-of-government program reporting requirements.
Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:
• Lead program data input to the QTRIP and the State Budget documentation, including Budget Paper 3 - Capital Statement (BP3), Regional Delivery Plans and Service Delivery Statement (SDS), as well as the department's Annual Report.
• Deliver insightful program performance analysis for delivery areas and senior executives and respond to internal and external reporting needs, including the department's Transport Infrastructure Portfolio performance dashboard and the whole-of-government Capital Program performance. This includes developing reporting and dashboard processes, procedures and guidelines, extracting relevant financial and non-financial data, and conducting data verification activities.
• Pursue advancements in reporting and reliability of program data across the department's systems and program management business processes. This includes representing the team and business unit in relevant working groups and collaborating with reporting stakeholders, systems and data owners to lead, design and develop improvements to reporting requirements, data analytics, master data quality and governance.
• Investigate and analyse program data and information collected from various systems and sources, and use it to support and prepare capital employment estimates, timely and accurate advice or fact-checking for ad hoc requests about TMR's infrastructure program for various audiences.
• Support managers, and provide leadership, mentoring, technical and peer review to colleagues in the team to develop reporting capabilities.
To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Proven experience in interpreting and analysing large, complex data sets from various sources such as systems, cloud connections and databases and using tools like Excel, Tableau, Power BI to prepare accurate, high-quality spreadsheets, dashboards, reports and presentations.
• Demonstrated expertise in crafting clear, concise key messages from program analysis, delivering high quality, accurate written or verbal advice to support senior executive decision-making, and preparing materials for non-technical external audiences.
• Strong ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with key internal stakeholders across the department and external partners.
• Highly proficient time management and organisational skills, with a proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and consistently deliver high-quality results.
• Provide leadership to colleagues and direct reports and enhance team capability by sharing knowledge and promoting best practices in data reporting and analysis.
