The Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland (EWOQ) is inviting expressions of interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Queensland to join our Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group (RAPWG) as an external member. This is a paid opportunity to share your voice, knowledge and lived experience to help guide EWOQ's reconciliation journey.
About EWOQ
We are an independent service helping Queenslanders and their electricity and gas suppliers and those in South East Queensland and their water providers resolve disputes.
Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia where First Nations peoples have equal opportunity, and where respect and understanding of culture and history are at the heart of everything we do.

Your role
As a RAPWG member, you will:
- Provide cultural advice and guidance on RAP actions
- Help shape policies and initiatives that support reconciliation
- Attend quarterly meetings (online or in-person)
- Be paid for your time and reimbursed for travel costs (the amount per quarter is likely $150-$300 depending on pre-work and meeting time attendance)
- Successful members will undertake an induction in the Brisbane office before commencement on the working group.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking someone who:
- Is connected to community and culture
- Has experience with RAPs or community leadership
- Can support respectful conversations and decision-making
- Wants to help build a stronger, more inclusive EWOQ, particularly in relation to First Nations people
