Our purpose is to improve electrical safety and reduce the risk of death and injury from electric shock, fire and explosion. We work with Queensland's electrical industry to help keep all Queenslanders safe around electricity, at work, at home and in the community.
We do this by:
• making sure electrical safety laws and standards are followed
• managing workers' and contractors’ electrical licenses
• registering, accrediting and certifying electrical equipment
providing electrical safety information, education and training including electrical product recalls and safety alerts.

A vacancy currently exists for an Electrical Safety Manager (ESM) for Brisbane North, Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay (BNSCWB) region within the Electrical Safety Office (ESO). Candidates are encouraged to submit applications for consideration, the position may be based at any of the OIR office locations within the Brisbane North, Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay region. 

As ESM BNSCWB some of your responsibilities will include:
• Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of the team(s) over which you have responsibility. This includes ensuring you and your team members are aware of and observing their responsibilities and obligations including under relevant OIR HSW policies and procedures.
• Lead and manage group performance by providing operational and strategic direction to support the achievement of organisational and team objectives.
• Manage the delivery of statutory and regulatory functions, including targeted enforcement and the investigation and prosecution of offences under the Electrical Safety Regulations 2013. 
• Promote a culture which responds positively to change and values continuous improvement, accountability, and service delivery excellence. 
• Establish and foster internal and external relationships through influential and impactful written and verbal communications, networking, and negotiations. 
• Manage a team of electrical inspectors to operate effectively and efficiently within a challenging and changing environment. 
• Build group capability and a cohesive work environment that promotes individual and team commitment to the pursuit of results. 
• Implement workforce management strategies to ensure accountability and achievement of performance expectations. 
• Contribute to the Electrical Safety Office leadership team and work closely with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland. 
• Implement OIR policies and procedures with respect to human resource management, in particular, performance planning and review, workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and the promotion of a discrimination free workplace culture that values equity and diversity.

To be successful in this role you will need:
• Demonstrate high level skills and experience in leading and managing teams of professional, technical staff to achieve operational objectives and outcomes in a complex, high pressure and constantly changing environment.
• Display flexibility, resilience, and proven ability to advance an organisational culture that values performance, continuous improvement, and service delivery excellence.
• Proven ability to communicate with influence (both orally and in writing) in resolving complex disputes, liaising, and consulting with internal and external stakeholders, representing ESO at high level meetings and forums, and preparing timely and accurate correspondence, briefs, and reports.
• Record of achievement in developing and maintaining relationships and networks with government and industry and the wider community to identify contentious and emerging needs, develop initiatives and promote engagement in electrical safety initiatives.
• Demonstrate experience in delivering services within a regulatory environment and a commitment to personal and professional development.
