The office of the Chief Risk Officer is accountable to the Commissioner for the development of risk and business continuity frameworks, a strong risk management culture and integration of risk management into all areas of Queensland Police Service (QPS).

The office of the Chief Risk Officer is accountable to the Commissioner for the development of risk and business continuity frameworks, a strong risk management culture and integration of risk management into all areas of Queensland Police Service (QPS).

As a Principal Business Continuity and Risk Officer you'll be working as a critical part of our small team to support the implementation, and evaluation of QPS Risk Management and Business Continuity frameworks.

Your key accountabilities

The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Uplift the QPS risk and business continuity maturity through the implementation of contemporary risk management and business continuity standards, principles, and practices.
  • Provide high quality, well researched advice, options and strategies to the Chief Risk Officer on matters impacting the Office of the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Overview the coordination of timely responses requiring input and data on risk and continuity matters including Executive Reports, Questions on Notice, possible parliamentary questions, discussion papers and briefs.
  • Prepare high level correspondence on behalf of the Chief Risk Officer including advice to QPS Executive Leadership Team (ELT) members and matters relevant to ongoing committees.
  • Develop, implement and review support systems and procedures within QPS risk, continuity frameworks.
  • Provide guidance and support to executive and management levels of leadership regarding risk management plans and business continuity plans.
  • Develop effective relationships with and provide high quality advice, support and services to internal and external clients and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review governance papers, complex briefings, submissions and reports including Risk Registers and insights/analysis for the Chief Risk Officer to support business operations.

Role Requirements

Mandatory

  • Demonstrated experience in Risk Management or Business Continuity roles is mandatory.

Qualification

  • Qualifications in Business Continuity Management aligning to ISO 22301 and in Risk Management aligning to ISO 31000 are desirable but not mandatory.

Other

  • Travel may be required from time to time and is subject to negotiation.
  • This role is located in Brisbane City.
