Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) is seeking a highly experienced Director to lead its People and Culture team.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director People & Culture leads RSHQ's people and culture strategy and oversees the delivery of all human resource and wellbeing functions.
Overseeing two key teams, this role provides leadership across functions including recruitment, employee relations, wellbeing, workforce planning and performance.

About the Organisation:
Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) is an independent statutory authority dedicated to protecting and promoting the safety and health of workers across Queensland's resources sector. RSHQ regulates the mining, quarrying, petroleum & gas, and explosives industries, operating under several key legislative frameworks including the Resources Safety and Health Queensland Act 2020, Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999, Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999, Explosives Act 1999, and Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004.
RSHQ's vision is for a zero serious harm resources sector for Queensland. With a workforce of approximately 400 professionals drawn from both government and industry backgrounds, RSHQ plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and health of those working in Queensland's resources sector.
About the Role:
Combining strategic vision with practical delivery, you'll have the opportunity to shape the people and culture function, strengthen systems and processes, and embed more effective ways of working to ensure ongoing capability improvements and enhance service delivery across the organisation with the following key priorities:
- Develop and embed a cohesive people and culture strategy that unites the function under a common vision and enhances organisational clarity and performance
- Drive efficiency and ongoing improvements for HR operations across the lifecycle of RSHQ employees
- Provide balanced and pragmatic industrial relations advice, with the ability to triage complex matters and effectively engage specialised support when required
- Drive collaboration and building team capability to ensure the HR functions can be effectively delivered within a rapidly changing and high-volume service environment
- Strengthen collaboration with executive leadership to drive the delivery of consistent, compliant and people-centred outcomes
About You:
You're an experienced people and culture leader who thrives on balancing strategic influence with operational delivery. Your background demonstrates strong generalist HR and industrial relations capability, ideally gained within the Queensland public sector or a similar complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
