The Principal Communications & Media Officer will lead the media activity for the Queensland Academy of Sport, proactively driving a media and PR program, developing content and communication material as part of the overall communications and media strategy to support our organisational vision of Inspiring Extraordinary Sporting Success.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Operate as the day-to-day media contact for the QAS, managing and responding to enquiries to maximise coverage opportunities or escalating to the Head of Communications and Media as required.
• Lead the QAS' proactive approach to media, building media relationships and identifying/pitching traditional and non-traditional opportunities to raise awareness and elevate the QAS brand with target audiences.
• Research, write and review key media and communications documentation, such as media releases, website articles, fact sheets, newsletters and speaking notes.
• Develop, pitch and evaluate newsworthy launch, media and photo opportunities to support QAS programs and initiatives in alignment with QAS' strategic pillars.
• Manage and monitor daily media coverage, identifying and escalating coverage as needed and delivering to reporting requirements.
• Lead the development and maintenance of QAS external website content, identifying opportunities for integrated communications or cross-promotion.
