We have an a exciting opportunity to become a key part of the South East Region Student Services Team as Manager, Guidance Services. In this pivotal role, you'll lead a passionate team of specialist staff dedicated to supporting and empowering Guidance Officers across the region.

As Manager, you'll play a vital role in shaping the provision of Guidance Services by overseeing high-quality supervision, fostering professional growth, and ensuring excellence in service delivery. You'll also take the lead in HR and financial management, team coordination, and the line management of our talented professional supervisors.

Your Role as the Manager

As Manager, you will lead a high-impact program of strategic importance at a state-wide level, shaping outcomes that directly influence departmental priorities and public service delivery. Operating within broad policy frameworks, you will drive innovation, ensure alignment with government objectives, and deliver results that matter.

You will be a trusted advisor across agencies, providing expert consultancy and thought leadership in policy development, interpretation, and implementation. Your work will span ministerial engagement while also including briefing notes, parliamentary responses, strategic reporting while also fostering strong relationships with government bodies, community organisations, and the public.

This role demands a dynamic blend of strategic planning, operational oversight, and evaluative thinking. You will exercise independent judgement, creativity, and delegated authority to set direction, solve complex challenges, and deliver on the department's mission.

Your Capabilities

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Proven ability to lead teams, allocate resources effectively, and drive policy and program initiatives that align with corporate strategy.
  • Expertise & Insight: Deep knowledge of government operations, policies, and procedures, with the ability to translate these into actionable plans and improvements.
  • People & Culture: Experience in managing personnel functions, fostering inclusive workplaces, and implementing programs that support staff development, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Influence & Communication: Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to resolve complex issues, represent the department with authority, and build consensus across diverse stakeholder
