The position of Business Manager is integral to the effective and efficient operation of the school, ensuring the delivery of high-quality business and administrative services. In this pivotal role, you will lead the delivery of high-quality corporate services, strengthen organisational capability, and actively support educational management across the school.
As a key advisor to the Principal and member of the school management team, you will champion continuous improvement and support systemic change that enhances outcomes for staff, students, and the wider school community.
The Business Manager oversees the school's administrative, financial, and human resource functions, provides expert strategic advice, and ensures the effective supervision and development of school support staff. This role requires a high level of independence, sound judgement, and the ability to work confidently in complex environments where processes may need interpretation and adaptation.
Responsibilities include:
- Operate autonomously to deliver business services within a dynamic and sometimes complex school environment.
- Provide high-level administrative support, including the preparation of reports and correspondence, problem-solving, research, and development of evidence-based recommendations.
- Lead the day-to-day supervision, performance monitoring, and capability development of school support staff, including managing rosters, timesheets, leave, recruitment, induction, and training.
- Support the Principal in budget preparation and financial administration, including monitoring expenditure, managing payroll and purchasing, producing financial reports, and providing informed advice on financial matters and resource management.
- Monitor facilities and grounds maintenance, liaise with contractors, coordinate repairs, and oversee planned and unplanned maintenance budgets to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.
- Manage the procurement, maintenance, and sustainability of school resources and equipment in line with departmental guidelines.
- Build strong professional networks with Business Managers, staff, and community representatives to promote best-practice corporate service delivery and support talent development.
- Use well-developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and empathy to build trust and manage sensitive situations, recognising opportunities to enhance student support and wellbeing.
- Perform additional tasks aligned with the role's responsibilities as directed by the Principal or delegate.
