Your opportunity

Provide clinical specialist General Practitioner support to the HealthPathways service, making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient-centred clinical practice.

This position is a casual position that allows the successful candidate to work from home and work the hours that best suit them and working from home safely.

Key responsibilities

As a key member of the Mackay HealthPathways Team, the GP Clinical Editor will be expected to:

  • Collaborate with the Mackay HealthPathways team and work groups to identify priorities for pathways localisation or development.
  • Collaborate effectively with practitioners across relevant and appropriate clinical streams including, but not limited to, Medical, Nursing, Allied Health and Indigenous Health Workers to ensure pathways include evidence based and multidisciplinary best practice information and resources.
  • Consult with appropriate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands cultural experts to ensure culturally appropriate content and resources are included in all pathways.
  • Gather and check clinical information about local practice, including assessment, management, and referral of clinical conditions.
  • Localise pathways efficiently by making only the minimum changes necessary to reflect local practice.
  • Make sure all clinical information provided is complete, accurate, and unambiguous.
  • Make sure the wording, format, and structure of clinical content meets the standards set out in the HealthPathways Style Manual.
  • Identify subject matter experts and consult with them when localising or developing pathways.
  • Seek review by, and feedback from, other stakeholders in the health system when localising or developing pathways.
  • Communicate effectively with technical writers at Streamliners via phone, Dot, and other channels.
  • Champion the expectations and standards required to make Mackay HealthPathways useful to practitioners in the Mackay/Isaac/Whitsundays region.
  • Influence general practice colleagues, senior clinicians, subject matter experts, and managers throughout the health system.
  • Champion HealthPathways to clinical colleagues.
