Your Responsibilities 

As the Regional Community Education Counsellor (Identified), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  

  • Deliver individual and group support to students, helping them build personal, academic and social skills while managing behaviour effectively.
  • Provide cross-cultural awareness training to the broader school community, enhancing understanding and empathy for the unique educational and social needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
  • This is your chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and contribute to a more inclusive and supportive school environment.
  • Develop and provide support service programs for schools that will assist in encouraging the educational participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Such activities will include state and commonwealth-funded school-based programs.
  • Establish and maintain links with external bodies and support services to meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary students.
  • Manage the provision of educational counselling and support services.
  • Provide advice on policies, operations and services to regional senior management.
  • Plan and coordinate development programs and education and training activities
  • Develop activities that promote productive partnerships between individual and group members of the regional educational community.
  • Coordinate, monitor and evaluate state and commonwealth-funded regional programs and lead and/or participate in regional, school and community-based teams.
  • Provide professional supervision of Community Education Counsellors working in schools.
  • Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate
