This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

About the Role

The Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, will contribute to the efficient operation and upkeep of the school by maintaining its grounds and facilities to a high standard. Reporting directly to the Principal, Business Manager, or delegate, this role involves performing routine and non-routine tasks to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining school grounds, including mowing, gardening, and general landscaping tasks.
  • Performing minor repairs and maintenance of school facilities and equipment.
  • Supporting security duties, such as locking/unlocking buildings and maintaining security systems.
  • Assisting with event preparation, including setting up furniture and equipment for school activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards, including safe storage and handling of chemicals and equipment.

This role would suit someone who is practical, proactive, and enjoys working in a school environment to support students and staff.

About You

The following traits would be beneficial:

  • Experience in grounds maintenance or a similar role.
  • Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks independently.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and the community.
