Permanent Full-Time Advanced Coder role based at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Woolloongabba, within Metro South Health, supporting tertiary-level clinical coding across a broad range of specialties.

Your new role:

As an Advanced Coder at Metro South Health, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of patient episode data, by:

• Abstracting and verifying information from medical records in line with industry standards and timelines.
• Utilising clinical coding systems such as 3M Codefinder to assist with accurate coding.
• Performing DRG grouping and revising results to ensure accuracy.
• Participating in coder-clinician liaison programs to verify clinical documentation.
• Providing advice and support to other coding staff on coding practices.
• Maintaining and developing knowledge of coding-related systems, standards, and clinical practices.
• Contributing to quality improvement activities, audits, and departmental education programs.
• Ensuring fair and respectful treatment of patients and staff, embracing diversity and inclusion.
