Our Traffic Management Centre team is focused on maintaining the efficiency and safety of Queensland's road network. The team performs a range of critical functions including real-time monitoring of the transportation network, identifying and addressing both expected and emergency traffic incidents, and communicating important travel information to the public via a variety of methods such as Variable Message Signs, the QLDTraffic website, and the 131940 information line. We also work closely with field operatives and external partners to co-ordinate effective responses to traffic disruptions and manage contract obligations with our service network operations responders.
THE ROLE:
As the Principal Advisor (Real-time Network Management), you will lead and oversee the planning and operation of the Queensland's state-controlled road network to ensure optimal performance and resource efficiency. This role involves supporting the strategic objectives of the Network Management team, including the future planning and operation of state-wide traffic management centres. The role has one direct report and also manages a Labour Hire Contract of 20+ staff.
You will establish and maintain strong partnerships with external stakeholders to effectively manage disruptions and events, ensuring timely and accurate communication with road users and stakeholders. The role also includes coordinating critical incident debriefs, providing operational support to regional teams, and driving strategic advice to resolve complex issues.
You will oversee the delivery and performance outcomes of contracts, Service Level Agreements, and Memoranda of Understanding, while leading continuous improvement initiatives from concept through to implementation. Additionally, you will play a key leadership role in fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and respectful team environment, empowering others to deliver high-quality outcomes.

With proven expertise in negotiating complex documents such as contracts, service level agreements, and memoranda of understanding, you bring a strategic mindset
to critical agreements. Your leadership style inspires collaboration and drives your team to achieve shared goals with clear success measures, while fostering a healthy, inclusive workplace culture.
MANDATORY CONDITIONS:
• The role supports real-time traffic management centre operations and participates in an on-call arrangement for 7 days at least once every 6 weeks. Some after hours, weekend or public holiday work may be required subject to operational needs.
• Travel across the traffic management centres statewide will be a requirement of this position and determined on business need.
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
