About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated and dynamic Student Support Officer at Miami State High School. As the Student Support Officer, you will play a vital role in enhancing student wellbeing and academic outcomes through collaboration with students, families, and staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build and sustain positive relationships with students, parents, community, and elders, providing input into local decision-making to ensure optimum outcomes.
  • Liaise with families and conduct home visits to encourage school attendance and motivate students.
  • Recognise and address educational, social, emotional, or behavioural issues among students.
  • Monitor student behaviour and wellbeing, identifying issues and organising intervention strategies.
  • Lead initiatives to foster a positive, caring, and supportive environment for students, families, and community members.

This role would suit someone passionate about student wellbeing, community engagement, and creating innovative solutions to support educational outcomes.

About You

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in identifying and addressing student wellbeing and behavioural concerns.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-based management approach.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to develop effective intervention strategies.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.

Please note: It is a mandatory condition of this role that you possess a current drivers' licence.
