Lead a high performing team within Water Supply Regulation to ensure the safe and sustainable management of drinking and recycled water in Queensland. As a manager, you will oversee regulatory functions under the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008, including statutory decision-making, compliance management, and incident oversight. You will take a strategic approach to improving water quality, identifying trends, and contributing to regulatory development. This role involves liaising with government agencies, water sector entities, and stakeholders to promote collaboration and ensure regulatory objectives are met. You will also provide expert advice to senior officials, prepare high-level reports, and translate complex technical information into accessible formats.

The Role
Operating from within Water Supply Regulation, you will provide leadership to ensure the effective delivery of 
the Division's responsibilities for the regulation of drinking and recycled water. You will ensure the provision of high level advice and contribute to the effective delivery of policy solutions to complex issues facing the water sector. The Water Supply Regulation team is responsible for all aspects of regulatory oversight in Queensland from the development and implementation of support programs to undertaking formal compliance activities, under the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008.

Key Duties and Accountabilities
• Demonstrate leadership through modelling high performance, coaching, mentoring and creating opportunities to empower staff and celebrate success.
• Identify and build high performing teams that are solution focussed and respond positively to change.
• Make and document statutory decisions under the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008, in accordance with the powers delegated under the Water Supply (Regulator) Delegation instrument to a Level 4 officer.
• Oversight the management of procedures, incidents, non-compliance and other regulatory matters.
• Monitor team performance to meet required targets and deliverables, including the recommendations of the Queensland Audit Office (QAO) report.
• Manage team leaders to deliver regulatory business and ensure a high level of customer service while meeting regulatory objectives.
• Taking a strategic statewide approach, identify issues and trends to improving drinking water quality while contributing to the establishment and implementation of legislation and regulations specifically for water service provision/performance and water quality.
• Liaise, consult and negotiate with other State Government agencies, water sector entities and their representative bodies in relation to water quality regulation.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with regulated entities to promote quality consistent information exchange and discussions to ensure their views are captured and addressed.
• Translate complex technical information and concepts in a manner that is easily understood by the target audience.
• Provide high level, expert and authoritative advice to the Minister, Director General and senior officials on water quality issues, incidents and emerging trends.
• Prepare and deliver complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, speeches, publications and correspondence.
• Other duties as directed and required.

About You
· There are no mandatory requirements for this role, however, a tertiary degree in science or engineering would be highly regarded.
· Previous experience in a similar role would be highly regarded.
