About us:

The Rockhampton Hospital has four operating theatres and two procedure rooms. The operating theatre complex is supported by a 6 bed Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency Unit (ICU/HDU). The Department is accredited for specialist training and is heavily involved in teaching and research.

Rockhampton Hospital performed 6,771 elective surgeries during 2021 financial year. Our highly skilled theatre staff also delivered 3,398 emergency surgeries. The Department encompasses surgical specialities: General Surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Urology and Ophthalmology teams and has a workforce of approximately 35 medical staff.

About the role:

Provide, develop and maintain an efficient, effective, ethical, and confidential secretarial and administrative support service to the Clinical Director and other Departmental Staff. This position operates with a high degree of independence in performing the duties of the position while maintaining open channels of communication between all staff within the department and other members of multidisciplinary teams.

  • Provide high standard confidential secretarial and administration support to the Clinical Director to ensure smooth functioning of the unit daily.
  • Use high level communication skills both verbal and written to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings ensuring accuracy and formatting in line with expected standards.
  • Organise, coordinate, and manage all secretarial and administrative aspects, including diary, appointment and meeting management for the Clinical Director and departmental staff in a professional manner.
  • Maintain audit databases and generate reports for departmental meetings.
  • Comply with policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines relevant to the position, including human resource management, workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination policies.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $97,656 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $38.81 - $43.16 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
