What you'll do
- Apply independent scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate.
- Undertake diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards
- Contribute to the development of scientific practices, procedures and protocols within the diagnostic work
- Responsible for initiating, planning and evaluating quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient care.
- Provide professional advice and educational forums to local staff and Rockhampton Group Laboratories to improve quality service needs.
About you
We are searching for someone with:
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the delivery of scientific services within a multidiscipline laboratory.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including conflict resolution, negotiation and influencing competencies.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline including the supervision of Quality Assurance activities in the Rockhampton group of Laboratories.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a complex caseload and apply established principles to a multidiscipline service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.
It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
