Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking a Registrar or Senior Registrar to join the team within Vascular Surgery at Townsville University Hospital on a fixed term temporary full-time basis, for 12 months.

About the work unit / facility:

The Vascular Surgery Department is currently staffed by two staff Specialists and a part-time Academic vascular specialist, three full-time registrars, this post and two RMOs. The unit has established open and endovascular lists and currently undertakes over 700 procedures each year. Common procedures including lower limb revascularisation by endovascular, open and combined procedures; endovascular aneurysm repair; carotid endarterectomy; open aortic surgery; AV fistula creation and maintenance; other vascular access procedures for oncology and renal purposes; venous surgery; and diabetic foot procedures.

  • Salary range: $4966.90 to $5758.70 p.f. (L4 to L9)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

About your opportunity:

Provide high quality clinical care to patients of the Vascular department at The Townsville Hospital, supervision of junior medical staff including inpatient care and will include some responsibility for providing teaching to junior medical staff, medical students and allied health staff.

Role Requirements:

  • Accepted into recognised vocational college training program relevant to the speciality.
  • If appointee is not accepted into a recognized vocational college training program – employment will only be as a Principal House Officer and remuneration will be at PHO Level per fortnight (L4-L7).
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted, including criminal history clearance.
