The role of Mental Health Clinician conducts triage, mental health assessment, short term treatment and recovery support to consumers accessing health services for acute mental health issues at an entry point to the mental health service of West Moreton Health. The Mental Health Clinician also collaborates with others to provide clinical leadership by offering advice on assessment, treatment options and risk management as required.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated high level of clinical practice and expertise in a relevant discipline to conduct triage, clinical assessment and intervention in an acute environment within the current legislative and policy context.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and provide independent professional judgement and expertise in problem solving and clinical management of a complex caseload, without immediate clinical practice from a more senior clinician.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate at a work unit/service area level and/or across professions to ensure effective service delivery and quality outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply quality assurance processes including participation in ongoing professional development opportunities and clinical supervision.
  • Proven ability in the application of highly developed interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation and communication skills.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
