Prison and Youth Detention Health Services (PYDHS) is a rapidly growing division within the West Moreton Health region, delivering primary health care services to detained, remanded and sentenced prisoners and Young Persons across eight facilities (six Correctional Centres and two Youth Detention Centres).
The Statewide Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) in Correctional Centres Model of Service underpins service delivery.

About the role
The role of a Senior Medical Officer for the Opiate Substitution Treatment (OST) Program (Addiction Medicine) is to provide treatment for opiate addiction as part of a primary health care service within West Moreton Prison Health Services. You would be expected to provide clinical leadership within the OST team. This role will be based at Wacol, and you will work across all correctional facilities within West Moreton Health Service based on clinical need. You will also be involved in the clinical governance and procedures/policies for this program.

- Extensive clinical experience with appropriate knowledge and skills in providing opiate treatment programs in a correctional environment, with an ability to deliver quality specialist care to patients in a clinical setting including directing the process of assessment, admission, ongoing care, transfer and discharge of patients.
- Communicate in a way that is appropriate for the situation, and that promotes trust, respect and integrity with patients and colleagues.
- Commitment to leading the performance, development and education program of clinicians at an undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Models ethical behaviour and consistently applied those ethical standards to self and
- Ensures all people, patients and colleagues are treated with dignity and respect in all healthcare
- Is committed to their own development and continuous self-improvement and identifies learning opportunities in every day work.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Registration with AHPRA as a specialist (Addiction Medicine) OR a specialist (General Practice) with an interest in Addiction Medicine
