MANAGER, INFRASTRUCTURE AND ASSETS

As Manager, Infrastructure and Assets, you will take the lead in shaping and safeguarding the physical backbone of TAFE Queensland, Gold Coast.  In this influential role, you will guide the strategic direction for our infrastructure and assets portfolio, ensuring the region operates at peak efficiency and delivers safe, sustainable, and future-ready environments for learning and innovation. You’ll combine visionary planning with hands-on leadership to drive excellence in asset lifecycle management, capital works, and maintenance programs - creating spaces that empower education and support commercial success.

About the Position – Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance management framework that leverages contemporary techniques and tools to optimise asset utilisation and value, minimise costs, and ensure alignment with the Region’s strategic direction across its educational and commercial infrastructure  
  • Manage the Facilities and Infrastructure business unit budget, including forecasting for future financial periods and preparation of business strategies to ensure cost-effective resource utilisation across all campuses educational and commercial spaces. 
  • Collaborate and negotiate with departmental and external contractors on maintenance, operations, capital works, projects, and asset lifecycle replacement programs, providing accurate and timely information to support the Region’s operational priorities and strategic objectives 
  • Provide timely, high-level, evidence-based advice to inform and support the Region’s strategic asset management and maintenance decisions, ensuring accurate monthly reporting aligned with organisational performance targets and statutory compliance requirements 
  • Ensure all activities within the Facilities and Infrastructure business unit adhere to legislative, regulatory, and organisational standards, maintaining robust compliance framework 
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of building and grounds improvements and programmed maintenance schedules to meet the evolving requirements of the Region’s infrastructure and assets.   
  • Provide strategic leadership, motivation, and guidance to the Facilities and Infrastructure team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely, and efficient services across the Region 
  • Develop and implement service catalogues, charters, performance standards, and KPIs, and evaluate service delivery effectiveness for clients, tenants, and stakeholders, while fostering a culture of excellence and positioning the team as a trusted and reliable service delivery partner 
  • Leverage a comprehensive understanding of TAFE’s commercial operations, including financial and business performance, space utilisation, and external factors impacting educational and leased facilities, to inform strategic infrastructure and asset decision-making and optimise resource utilisation. 
  • Contribute to the success of cultural change within the organisation through promoting and modelling TAFE values of Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility, Showing Initiative and Safety First. 

About You – Key Capabilities: 

  1. Proven ability to strategically lead and motivate multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement to deliver high-quality outcomes.  
  2. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, resource and budget management, including the capacity to effectively develop and implement initiatives that optimise infrastructure and asset utilisation and successfully coordinate and monitor maintenance, capital works, and asset replacement programs. 
  3. Proven skills in stakeholder engagement and negotiation, with the ability to build strong partnerships, influence decisions, and achieve agreed outcomes across diverse internal and external stakeholders.  
  4. Demonstrated capability in governance and compliance, ensuring adherence to legislative, regulatory, and organisational standards through robust systems and risk management frameworks.  
  5. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex issues, identify innovative solutions, and implement strategies that enhance efficiency and service delivery. 

Highly Desirable Requirements: 

  • Demonstrated success in strategic infrastructure and asset management within a complex organisational environment. 
  • Tertiary or Vocational qualifications in Facilities Management, Asset Management, Project Management, Business Management, or a related discipline. 

Salary:  AO7 – $133,603 to $143,125 per annum, plus 12.75% employer superannuation contributions & optional salary packaging benefits.
