The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Pharmacy Assistant/Technician - Seniors (Cancer and Blood Disorders) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Assist with medication order and prescription preparation for all GCHHS patients
  • Maintain stock of pharmaceuticals including high-cost drugs, equipment and consumables at required levels through order creation, unpacking and putting away and rotating stock as required.
  • Assist with quality control systems in the production unit, including equipment and environmental monitoring in line with best practice.
  • Conduct clinical trial management under the supervision of a pharmacist.

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Certificate IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support  
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time and temporary full time (one permanent position and one temporary position, up to 12 months with the possibility for extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $76 076 - $84 346 per annum, $2 916 - $3 118 per fortnight

About Us

The Pharmacy Service provides medication management services across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS), 7 days per week. Our team of approximately 130 pharmacists are assisted in their roles by over 55 support persons comprising pharmacy assistants, administration officers, purchasing and stores personnel. The dispensary at each of the two hospital campuses is also equipped with automated dispensing robots to facilitate dispensing, distribution and inventory management activities.
