The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Principal Lawyer to join our Legal Services team. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping regulatory outcomes within Queensland’s building and construction industry as a member of a high‑performing and collegiate team of legal professionals. You will deliver high‑quality advocacy and legal services across a diverse and challenging portfolio. This position is based in Brisbane, and the successful candidate will be required to enter into a Flexible Work Arrangement reflecting Brisbane as their primary office location. While the role allows for flexibility in working from home, regular in-person attendance at the Brisbane office is a mandatory requirement.
About You
You are a confident advocate and strategic thinker with a passion for administrative law and public sector litigation. You thrive in complex environments and enjoy leading others to achieve excellence.
You will bring:
- Extensive litigation experience, ideally within government, administrative law, or civil litigation.
- Proven leadership capability, with experience mentoring and developing lawyers in a fast‑paced legal environment.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical and high‑quality legal advice.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust and credibility with senior leaders and internal stakeholders.
- A commitment to delivering client‑focused, solutions‑oriented legal services.
