Senior Environmental Health Officer

This permanent position is ideal for an experienced Environmental Health professional ready to lead complex investigations, apply independent judgement, and deliver evidence-based solutions across diverse program areas.
As the Senior EHO, you’ll provide high-level advice, prepare quality reports, and contribute to strong enforcement and policy outcomes, all while working with minimal supervision. Beyond technical excellence, you’ll mentor and guide emerging practitioners, collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, and champion culturally safe, ethical practice, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

About us:
Central Queensland Public Health Unit provides services to both the Central Queensland and Central West regions. Our team includes Epidemiologists, Public Health Medical Officer, Public Health Nurses, Environmental Health Officers, Public Health Data Officer and business support staff.
Public health units focus on:
- protecting health.
- preventing disease, illness and injury.
- promoting health and wellbeing at a population or whole of community level.
About the role:
Deliver complex regulatory and non-regulatory environmental health services across Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service to protect, promote and prevent risks to the community arising from environmental health hazards that impact on the natural and built environment and human health.
About you:
- The successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification that is accredited by the Environmental Health Australia or deemed eligible for appointment by the Queensland (QLD) Health Environmental Health Officer Appointments Review Committee.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $157,359 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $64.64 - $69.55 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
