About QLeave
QLeave is a statutory body administering portable long service leave schemes for workers in the building and construction, contract cleaning and community services industries. We manage more than $2 billion in funds under investment and play a crucial role in ensuring workers receive the long service leave they've earned.
We are a values-driven organisation committed to strong governance, accountability and service excellence. We uphold and promote the Human Rights Act 2019 through our decisions, culture and workforce practices.
The Opportunity
As a People and Culture Officer, you will play a key operational role within the People, Culture & Capability team, supporting the day-to-day delivery of people services across QLeave.
You will be a first point of contact for employees and leaders, triaging enquiries, resolving routine and transactional matters, and escalating more complex or sensitive issues to Senior People and Culture Advisors as required. Working closely with the Senior People and Culture Advisor and Manager, People and Culture, you will contribute to the smooth operation of core HR processes across the employee lifecycle.
This role offers exposure to a broad range of people and culture activities, opportunities to build capability across contemporary HR practices, and the chance to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support QLeave's strategic and business objectives.
This position reports to the Senior People and Culture Advisor and has no supervisory responsibilities.
What you'll do
You will use your HR practical experience along with your organisational skills and customer-focused approach to:
- coordinate the workflow of payroll-related paperwork to and from the shared service agency
- provide advice and problem resolution to staff regarding the external provision of payroll services
- support the employee lifecycle using a business partnering approach
- prepare reports, appointment letters, role descriptions and HR correspondence
- maintain establishment, personnel and payroll records to ensure accuracy and currency
- provide recruitment and selection advisory support, including compliance guidance, advertising, shortlisting, interview coordination and appointment documentation
- coordinate and provide advice on recruitment and selection processes
- coordinate training and development activities, including booking external courses and arranging in-house sessions
- provide advice on HR delegations, legislation, directives, policies and procedures
- coordinate QLeave's reward and recognition program in line with organisational frameworks
- support People and Culture projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- undertake other duties as directed by your supervisor.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who brings both demonstrated HR capability and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
You will be successful in this role if you can demonstrate your ability to:
- apply sound knowledge of contemporary HR legislation, principles and practices
- work effectively with transactional HR systems and processes
- provide advice on employment relations matters, including sensitive and confidential issues
- communicate clearly and professionally, building productive relationships with a range of stakeholders
- plan, prioritise and manage competing tasks to meet deadlines and deliver outcomes.
There are no mandatory qualifications for this role. However, practical experience using Microsoft applications (including Teams and SharePoint), record-keeping systems such as HPE Content Manager, and the Aurion payroll system will be highly regarded.
How to Apply

To be considered for this role, your application must include:
- A detailed resume outlining your qualifications, experience, and achievements.
