The System Support Team, part of the IT Support Directorate, is dedicated to delivering high-quality, specialist support across a range of critical Queensland Police Service environments. We provide end-to-end technical expertise—including system design, implementation, ongoing support, and maintenance—for the Criminal Intelligence Command (CIC), the Electronic Evidence Unit (EEU), and other commands and units with unique system requirements.

Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Manage a team of subject matter experts in the design, procurement, implementation, support, and maintenance of ICT systems used by the Command or Unit.
• Undertake research and analysis on new and emerging technological trends and products which may impact upon the Command or Unit and provide innovative solutions for continual improvement.
• Ensure the integrity of system used by the Command or Unit at all times, including the capture and retention of information and the security of digital evidence files.
• Build and maintain communication networks with internal and external clients and stakeholders and provide high level advice on technical related issues relating to the Command or Unit.
• Develop business requirements and specifications to facilitate vendor quotations, and subsequently, manage budgets, contracts and deliverables.
• Implement strategies to identify, assess and mitigate risks.
Role Requirements
Qualification
• Degrees, diplomas and certifications in ICT will be highly regarded.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
Demonstrated experience and competency in a range of technical disciplines as specified below would be considered an advantage for this position.
• Prior experience in an enterprise-scale ICT environment.
• Experience designing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining mission critical 24x7 ICT services.
• Experience administering server and desktop technologies, including but not limited to Linux - Ubuntu/Debian Desktop and Server, VMWare ESXi Server, vSphere, MS Windows Server 2008/2012/2019, Windows 10 & 11, & Macintosh.
• Experience administering networking technologies for complex ICT systems and experience conducting security risk assessments, and business impact analysis with these systems.
• Experience administering digital forensics software such as LACE, Nextcloud, GriffEye, Cellebrite, Magnet Forensics Axiom, or X-Ways.
• Experience in troubleshooting and solving technical issues.
Other
• This position is required to participate in a 24/7 on-call ICT support roster.
• This position may be required to undertake periodic pre-approved overtime and periodic work outside normal business hours.
• This position may be required to provide expert evidence on systems related matters for the Command or Unit they support on behalf of the Queensland Police Service (QPS) in a Court of law.
• Commands and Units deal with sensitive and exploitation materials and there will be some exposure to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.
• The successful applicant/s will be required to undergo psychometric assessment prior to appointment.
• As part of employee wellbeing requirements, the successful applicant will be required to undergo periodic psychological evaluations during their employment.
• Subject to the Command or Unit they will be supporting, the successful applicant may be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Australian Government security clearance governed by the Department of Defence.
