About the role
Join the Rail Division as a Senior Advisor supporting the Deputy Director General (DDG). You'll provide timely, independent advice and high level business support to ensure the effective operation of the ODDG.
Key responsibilities:
* Provide expert editorial oversight of ministerial and executive correspondence, briefing notes and Cabinet materials, ensuring compliance with whole of government guidelines and departmental standards.
* Lead coordination of the Estimates process for the Rail Division, reviewing and quality assuring briefs for consistency and critical content.
* Triage and manage the ODDG/DDG inboxes; investigate requests and draft responses for key stakeholders.
* Deliver secretariat support to DDG chaired committees, including agenda planning and action tracking.
* Act as an authoritative reference point on executive and ministerial correspondence standards; liaise across Rail Division branches on rail matters.
* Coordinate DDG daily operations including email and diary management, approvals, travel, and meeting preparation.
What we're looking for:
* Outstanding editing and proofreading skills, with strong critical thinking and analysis.
* Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication; able to tailor messages to diverse stakeholders and build productive relationships.
* High emotional and social intelligence; resilient in the face of change, ambiguity and uncertainty.
* Proven ability to prioritise and deliver under pressure; executive support and correspondence experience highly regarded.
