Digital Metro North (DMN) works collaboratively with Metro North Health (MNH) clinical leads and end users to deliver the digital transformation strategy for Metro North Health. It will ultimately create an integrated digital hospital and healthcare environment across Metro North. In meeting this strategy significant capital works are being undertaken over the next five years that includes hospital construction/refurbishment and the implementation of ieMR Advanced solution across Metro North. Delivering this will require a dedicated team, with the capacity to work across initiatives and domains, with the knowledge, determination, skills and experience to deliver.

This role leads advanced epidemiological and statistical analysis of the Queensland Cardiac Outcomes Registry (QCOR) to elevate cardiac care across Queensland public facilities. As an experienced biostatistician/epidemiologist, the successful applicant applies robust modelling, survival analysis, risk adjustment, and data‑mining techniques to generate meaningful insights that guide clinicians and service managers in improving cardiac outcomes. They translate complex analyses into clear publications and presentations, support quality assurance committees with expert interpretation, and identify research opportunities that strengthen clinical practice. The role also shapes data‑driven strategies for statewide cardiac services, mentors' analytical staff, and builds strong stakeholder relationships to drive continuous improvement in cardiac service delivery.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Statewide Cardiac Clinical Informatics Unit, you will provide statistical support and advice to the Statewide Cardiac Clinical Informatics Unit (SCCIU), the Queensland Cardiac Outcomes Registry (QCOR). The successful candidate will also direct and coordinate the quantitative analysis of the QCOR data to identify and explore areas for improvement in cardiac services, clinical practice and clinical research.
Key knowledge and experience
The ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Proven advanced specialist knowledge, skills, experience and a strong proficiency with a statistics package (e.g. Stata or SPSS).
- Proven advanced specialist knowledge, experience and skills in designing appropriate statistical analyses/tests tailored to a health care setting eg risk adjustment, statistical process control.
- Demonstrated knowledge in data linking methods such as exact, statistical and probabilistic matching and other processes including data quality improvement, scheduled services and automation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Tableau or other business intelligence tools.
- Demonstrated experience with Alteryx® or R statistical computing and predictive language.
- Proven highly developed research, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills and a proven ability to drive a team environment developing effective working relationships with team members to support the successful support of SCCIU and QCOR.
- Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to negotiate, advise, influence others and explain clinical practice and service improvement initiatives in business terms establishing rapport to cultivate productive working relationships with confident negotiation, consultation and facilitation skills at all levels within a complex clinical, digital and ICT service delivery environment.
