Principal Investigator


Fortitude Valley

As a Principal Investigator in Corruption Investigations, you will be the primary investigator (i.e. case officer) of matters, usually the more complex, higher risk, challenging investigations, allocated to your team. You will also, through your training and experience, be an operational leader, guide and mentor (i.e. case manager) of investigators and others in your multi-disciplinary team who have primary responsibility to investigate a matter. In support of your team director, you will be relied upon to solve problems and ensure quality investigations within your team or as otherwise allocated.

About you 

Appointments in the CCC are merit-based and will be assessed by looking at what you have done previously—the knowledge, skills and experience you have built, your potential for development, and your personal qualities which align with the leadership competencies, CCC's values and stated requirements in this position description.

Investigative experience with law enforcement, workplace investigations or regulatory compliance is mandatory. Possession of tertiary qualifications is not required but is desirable. Possession of a Certificate IV in Investigations or similar is also considered desirable.  Qualifications acquired from an overseas educational institution will only be accepted where the qualification has been recognised to an equivalent level in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework.

For this role, we will consider how well you demonstrate your ability to:

  • Lead and manage as a senior member in an investigative environment. This includes appropriately influencing team members, peers and senior staff.
  • Think critically, make justifiable decisions cognisant of operational and strategic considerations and cause your decisions to be acted upon through all stages of an investigation. This includes your ability to objectively question, analyse, interpret, and evaluate what you read, hear and collect as evidence.
  • Undertake and lead high quality investigations, using contemporary investigative techniques and technologies, in a timely way, particularly in the context of corruption and misconduct.
  • Use your written and oral communications skills to synthesise evidence and information to influentially deliver clear, concise and accurate insights, conclusions and recommendations that are justifiable and evidence based.
  • Rapidly acquire and effectively share knowledge of legislation, policies, procedures and investigative practices.
