We're excited to welcome a Nurse Practitioner Candidate – Rapid Access Cardiology to Cardiology, Medical Directorate.

The Rapid Access Cardiology NPC play a pivotal role in the operational delivery of the Rapid Access Cardiology Clinic (RACC), including but not limited to, reviewing referrals, co-ordinating patient care along the pathway, patient education and follow-up, on-referring where applicable. This position will also be directly involved in the new, post-ACS lipid point-of-care (POC) clinic. The NPC will assist in the planning and streamlining of service delivery. This quality improvement initiative is based in the outpatient setting, is to assess whether high risk CVD patients are able to reach target LDL levels (<1.4 mmol/L) post MI.
A Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC) is a Registered Nurse who is undertaking an accredited university Nurse Practitioner Master level program leading to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia and who is employed as a Nurse Grade 7 in a specific Nurse Practitioner Candidate position.
Key Responsibilities include:
- This position requires you to adhere to National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and the Sunshine Coast Health Safe Care Framework, which has been developed in collaboration with staff, consumers and key stakeholders to enable our vision of health and wellbeing through person-centred care.
- It is the purpose of this role to provide advanced clinical practice in a nursing model of care and be trained in expanded skills under clinical supervision to become an autonomous clinician using diagnostics, prescription, treatment and referral.
- Through completion of relevant education preparation and experiential learning, the NPC will develop an expanded scope of practice that will result in endorsement as a NP. The NPC will function in accordance with relevant legislation and national standards and will work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to ensure the provision of comprehensive, individualised quality patient care to patients.
- The NPC is supported by documentation of clinical learning and competency and academic achievement. The NPC position is grounded in the nursing professions values, knowledge, theories and practice and provides innovative and flexible healthcare delivery that compliments the entire health care system.
Remuneration based pro rata on equivalent full time value up to $169 138 p.a., comprising salary rates: $68.86 - $74.76 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 7) (Fixed Term temporary part time 32 hrs p.f. for 14 months).
