The Role
You are a member of the North Region Water Monitoring team, providing hydrometric information that is relied upon for decisions to be made about Queensland water resources. Operating and maintaining a remote network of water monitoring infrastructure, your work varies from challenging remote field operations to electronically entering, validating and archiving the data. As a supervisor you are demonstrating and ensuring high standards of personal leadership and responsibility, safety and operational conformance, and a strong commitment to the departments Quality Management System.
Key Accountabilities:
• Collect data from direct measurement, sensors, data loggers and water samples; enter and validate the data into groundwater and surface water (Hydstra) databases,
analyse the data, provide reports and call Water Harvesting events.
• Plan and prioritise all work to meet the requirements of the quality management system and the needs of the department and clients, including administrative
functions to undertake field operations.
• Demonstrate a consistently high standard of conduct, communication, and behaviour in your dealings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in the development of new procedures, innovative technologies, procurement, and contract administration, purchasing and other activities as the
needs of the business changes and evolves.
• Represent regional monitoring interests in liaison with senior team leadership, including negotiating and organising allocation of geographically distributed resources to meet regional priorities.
• Supervise staff, demonstrating and ensuring a high standard of leadership and responsibility, safety and operational conformance, and expected behaviours and
conduct.
About You
• There are no mandatory requirements for this role, however, experience in the use of water monitoring databases and systems (e.g., Hydstra), in surface and/or groundwater monitoring roles and the possession of any relevant qualifications will be well regarded.
• A current manual driver's licence is required, and off-road driving experience is preferred.
• A current Herbicide Application Licence and a Construction White Card, or the ability to obtain these on appointment to the position, is also essential.
• A boat licence or the ability to obtain on appointment to the position
