A natural connector and opportunity‑spotter, the Advisor confidently pitches ideas with clarity, secures high‑value visibility, and adapts quickly to changing priorities. Through strategic storytelling, they showcase the QBCC's impact, integrity and values, shifting perceptions and highlighting the organisation's commitment to customer‑centric, intelligence‑led regulation.

This is a pivotal role that amplifies the QBCC's national presence, deepens stakeholder understanding and reinforces our reputation as a proactive, future‑focused regulator shaping a thriving building and construction industry.

Key Outcomes and Accountabilities

In this role, the Principal External Affairs Advisor will:

  • Lead a statewide thought‑leadership agenda that deepens understanding of the QBCC's role and reinforces confidence in our regulatory approach, ensuring alignment with organisational strategies and frameworks.
  • Create and deliver high‑impact content from strategic insights to intelligence‑led commentary across media, stakeholder publications, digital channels and emerging platforms.
  • Confidently pitch and secure national opportunities that elevate the QBCC's voice, including preparing Executive Leaders for interviews and high‑profile engagements.
  • Produce high‑quality communication materials that clearly articulate how the QBCC supports a strong, sustainable building and construction industry.
  • Scan the horizon for emerging issues and trends, transforming insights from reports, media, and stakeholder sentiment into timely, relevant content that clarifies the QBCC's role and strengthens trust in our customer‑focused, intelligence‑led regulatory approach.
