We are seeking a highly skilled Aircrew Officer to join our dynamic rotary wing team in Townsville and make a real difference to the lives of those in need. You will assist the pilot to carry out all aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other government support duties. Your flight experience will ensure you can work as an effective team member within the aircraft whilst conducting primary rescues, secondary interhospital transfers and counter disaster work alongside frontline Queensland Government services.

The Role:

What We're Looking for:

Mandatory requirements:

  • Dangerous Goods Awareness Training
  • Crew Resource Management / Human Factors Training
  • Minimum 100 hours logged Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Aircrew member experience
  • CASA Aviation Class 2 Medical Certificate
  • Winch Endorsement (from an approved Training and Checking Organisation)
  • AVI40225 Certificate IV in Airborne Operations (or equivalent) with the following elective units completed:
    • Conduct winching operations
    • Perform non-pilot cockpit duties
    • Conduct night vision imaging system operations
    • Conduct helicopter landing site and unprepared helicopter landing site operations
  • Aeronautical Radio Operators Certificate including Level 6 English Language Proficiency

Highly Desirable Requirements:

  • AW 139 Type Endorsement with relevant experience on type.
  • Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Aircrew Officer Front Left Hand Seat (FLHS) experience.
  • Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)
  • Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS) Training
  • SAR/EMS experience on AW139

Special Conditions

Applicants must pass the Aircrew Officer Physical Fitness test prior to appointment and annually thereafter. The fitness assessment comprises of one of the following options:

  1. 400m swim in under 10 minutes; or
  2. Completion of the Rockport Fitness Walk Test (1.6km walk) with the minimum standard being a ‘Good' assessment on the Rockport calculator (www.exrx.net/Calculators/Rockport.html); or
  3. Completion of a 2.4km run with the minimum standard being a 'Good' assessment on the ExRx.net Distance Run calculator (www.exrx.net/calculators/oneand.html)
