Rangers ensure Queensland’s national parks, state forests & reserves are protected, accessible & valued by all Queenslanders. The Senior Ranger (Sandstone) role focuses on planning & delivering operational programs within the Sandstone Management Unit. This position oversees 16 staff managing approximately 750,000 hectares of parks & forests in central & southern Queensland, including Carnarvon National Park, one of Queensland’s top 10 national parks. Responsibilities include managing park programs, preparing briefing notes, reporting on budgets & overseeing contracts. Strong communication & teamwork skills are essential, along with the ability to liaise with internal & external stakeholders, including First Nations groups, to ensure programs are successfully implemented.
