This position is part of the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB) as part of the recent Machinery-of-Government changes. CDSB is currently in negotiations for a certified agreement to cover all CDSB employees. In the meantime, the TMR Agreement conditions apply to this position.

The Finance and Business team within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business is responsible for providing expert procurement, contract management, financial advice, analysis, and support to regional stakeholders and enabling functions. As a key member of the team, you will be accountable for the provision of timely and accurate financial support. You will be responsible for administering travel requirements, addressing timesheet issues, processing invoices, managing expenditure transactions, and raising purchase requisitions in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Process invoices and purchase orders in accordance with financial policies and procedures
  • Administrate corporate purchasing card accounts in accordance with financial policies and procedures
  • Administrate, monitor and review CATS and Aurion time-sheeting program
  • Provide financial management services to Service Centre Operations division management and staff
  • Administer travel bookings, as well as improve systems and procedures for the delivery of financial services to clients
  • Provide assistance and advice to staff and managers within the division on financial policies, practices and procedures
  • Manage priorities and client needs to ensure the delivery of effective financial management services within agreed timeframes
  • Monitor cost centres and accounts, identify and resolve anomalies in postings
  • Contribute to submissions and reports on financial management issues and proposals
  • Identify and undertake projects and tasks to improve the effectiveness of financial activities within the division
  • Provide administrative support as directed

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Sound knowledge of financial management practices and processes.
  • Experience in providing financial management services to management and staff.
  • The ability to prepare reports and resolve financial issues using computerised business systems and software.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment to deliver high quality outcomes within required timeframes.
  • In addition, this role requires the leadership capabilities of an Individual contributor as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland booklet.
