TARGETED VACANCY

This is a specified position:

• Applicants for a Specified position must nominate an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person who is recognised and accepted in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community as a referee to support their ability to meet the relevant criteria in accordance with section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, and the Recruitment and Selection (Directive 07/23).

As Transitions Officer, you will specifically:

• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Assist in preparing young people to participate and engage in education, training and employment programs as required; and support the development of their interpersonal and self-regulation skills.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to plan, deliver and refer young people to education, training, and employment.
• Work effectively within a statutory and non-statutory environment to provide support to young people during education, vocational training, work experience and employment.
• Collect and maintain accurate data and client records in accordance with relevant statutory, legislative, policy and procedural requirements.
• Identify, liaise, and maintain strong working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders and community partners.
• Contribute to a departmental culture that ensures sensitive and effective communication with people from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds as well as an appreciation of cultural protocols and an awareness of the impacts of historical policies and practices.
