As a TAFE Tutor you will contribute to supporting quality learning services to a wide range of students. 

The Role

Salary

Casual Teacher

$115.33 (gross) per hour

Casual Tutor

$52.98 (gross) per hour

Mandatory Requirements – Teacher 

Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree of at least three years’ duration awarded by an Australian University or  tertiary institution, or its onshore or overseas equivalent; and a recognised specialist postgraduate TESOL qualification (with supervised teaching practicum of 60 hours with a minimum of 25 hours supervised teaching), and the following:

  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
  • evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
  • evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment.

Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:

TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor; or

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
  • TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or its successor; or
  • TAE50111 or TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or
  • TAE50211 or TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development; or
  • A secondary teaching qualification and one (1) of the following credentials: 
    • TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor; or 
    • TAESS00011 or TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor; or 
  • A higher-level qualification in adult or vocational education (approved by TAFE Queensland).

Mandatory Requirements – Tutor 

a) Possession of vocational competencies at least to the level of the unit(s) of competency that tutorial support is being provided;

b) Possession of the following training and assessment skill sets and unit of competency:

  • TAESS00014 – Enterprise Trainer – Presenting Skill Set (or its successor); or
  • TAESS00007 – Enterprise Trainer - Presenting Skill Set.

c) Current industry experience and skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided.

d) Current knowledge and skills in vocational training, learning and assessment that informs practice, gained through ongoing professional learning and development.

e) Possession of a licence, ticket, professional body credential or registration/accreditation that is relevant to the vocational area in which tutorial support is being provided (if applicable).

Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview. 

Highly Desirable – Teacher 

 Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded:

  • Experience in teaching adults 
  • High level of digital literacy skills across various platforms (online Learning Management Systems).

Highly Desirable – Tutor 

 Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded:

  • High level of digital literacy skills across various platforms (online Learning Management Systems).
  • It is highly desirable Tutors undertake training to obtain the following as part of their professional development:
    • TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills or its successor; and
    • TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set (or its successor).
