The Operations Centre Supervisor (OCS) is a key role within the QAS Operations Centres, with responsibility for the supervision and day to day management of Operations Centre functions and staff, to ensure the provision of efficient frontline operational service delivery.

The role provides support to the Director and, Operations Centre Manager in developing and implementing reforms and service improvement initiatives and contributes to the overall future direction of QAS service delivery. The Operations Centre Supervisor will ensure that high quality, timely and appropriate pre-hospital care and transport services are provided to the Queensland community and will actively contribute to the achievement of QAS business objectives and key performance indicators determined by the Commissioner.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

• Demonstrated sound knowledge of the critical information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and systems that support a contemporary emergency Operations Centre, with the ability to solve problems and manage complex issues that may affect the integrity and performance of the Operations Centres.
• Demonstrated sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, procedures and business continuity arrangements applicable to an Operations Centre and the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of effective business continuity plans, procedures and governance processes.
• Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, to successfully manage client/stakeholder engagement.
• Demonstrated well developed leadership skills and proven experience in successfully managing complex and demanding situations with the ability to determine and implement appropriate strategies and resolutions to maintain effective operational service delivery.
• Demonstrated supervisory and human resource management skills, including experience in performance management and development processes and the ability to lead and inspire large, diverse, professional teams in an environment of competing priorities and needs with limited resources.
• Proven commitment to continuing professional development by completing all courses required for achieving and maintaining a credentialed level of OCS practice, including Certificate of Practice accreditation and re-certification processes.

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

• Applicants must have a minimum of a Certificate III in Ambulance Communications - Call Taking and a Certificate IV in Ambulance Communications - Dispatch; or equivalent qualifications, as determined by the Commissioner, QAS.
• Applicants must be current in all mandatories and have a current Certificate of Practice.
• Completion of an appropriate management/supervisory training course and knowledge of quality assurance frameworks will be highly regarded.
• Position will require participation in shift work (including weekends and public holidays), on-call duties and undertake overtime.
• The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and the possession of a C class driver's licence may be required.
