Your role
The Strategy, Performance and Digital team within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business provides strategic leadership and expert support in digital strategy, ICT governance, and business continuity and disaster management. The team drives the department's enterprise digital strategy and capability development, ensures compliance with Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture (QGEA) policies, and strengthens organisational resilience through robust business continuity frameworks and disaster preparedness initiatives.
As a key member of the team, you will:
- Provide architectural reference materials and principles to support the achievement of strategic objectives
- Facilitate enterprise and solution architecture governance reviews and advice to solution designers and assurance to initiative and other governance boards
- Gather and analyse information relating to business needs, strategies, concerns and risks in order to inform planning and provide value for money solutions.
In this role you will be responsible for developing and driving the adoption of the Enterprise Architecture, Digital and ICT strategic agenda across the department with a focus on the alignment of the business, information, application and technology layers of the architecture.
Your responsibilities
As the Principal Enterprise Architect, you will:
- Actively contribute to the development and maintenance of the Enterprise Architecture future state and current state and provide leadership, guidance and advice on all aspects of the architecture to a wide range of stakeholders including senior and executive managers, Program Directors, Project Managers, Solution Architects and development teams
- Identify and investigate innovative technologies and/or approaches and develop strategies and direction for their adoption within the Department's architecture through developing, managing blueprints, specifications, ICT technology roadmaps, capability roadmaps aligned with the ICT, Digital, Enterprise Architecture (EA) and business strategies.
- Develop, socialise and maintain direction papers, frameworks, roadmaps and future focussed migration plans that detail the Enterprise Architecture Future State and align ICT activities with Departmental strategic goals and EA strategy.
- Contribute to the development and assurance of business cases, implementation strategies, designs and solution specifications for ICT related projects and system enhancements to ensure that solutions chosen/designed/acquired are aligned with ICT Strategies, architectural standards, principles and roadmaps.
- Develop ICT strategies, architectures and standards for the organisation that support the implementation of the business strategy. Translate business practices and processes into architectures to enable delivery of appropriate solutions.
- Contribute to the OrbusInfinity EA repository management for business-as-usual requests and day to day operations.
- Lead EA forums and groups to ensure EA alignment across divisions within the department.
To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic, pragmatic advice to customers and stakeholders about complex issues associated with enterprise, information and/or technical architecture.
- Proven experience to practically tailor architecture frameworks such as TOGAF to establish best practice in the area of enterprise architecture.
- Proven ability to lead and communicate change and new ideas to a diverse range of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of multidisciplinary/virtual teams.
