As part of the Tourism division, the Senior Business Development Officer, will play a role in developing and implementation initiatives under Destination 2045: Delivering Queensland’s Tourism Future.
The Senior Business Development Officer is part of the Our Country Advisory Service program and is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of relationships that enable positive tourism and community outcomes. The role identifies key opportunities to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
and be the interface between Indigenous peoples/businesses and government for the development of Indigenous tourism utilising your passion, knowledge, skills and/or experience in community engagement, business development and government service delivery. The success of the role will hinge on extensive engagement and travel across areas of Queensland.

Destination 2045 is the Queensland Government's bold plan for delivering Queensland's tourism future and positioning us as a global tourism leader. The plan will enable our tourism industry, doubling the value of visitor expenditure to the state' economy to $84 billion by 2045 and delivering lasting benefits to Queensland communities.
The Senior Business Development Officer is part of the Our Country Advisory Service program and is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of relationships that enable positive tourism and community outcomes. The role identifies key opportunities to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and be the interface between Indigenous peoples/businesses and government for the development of Indigenous tourism utilising your passion, knowledge, skills and/or experience in community engagement, business development and government service delivery.
The success of the role will hinge on extensive engagement and travel across remote and regional Queensland. Officers will routinely visit communities and be required to participate in various forums that require officers to work away from their normal business centre. Officers will also lead the delivery of engagement activities, workshops, community consultation, industry engagement and cross-collaboration with government agencies.
As the Senior Business Development Officer, you will:
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands communities, First Nations people, special interest groups, agencies and industries to underpin the success of the program and achieve strategic outcomes.
• Lead proactive management of internal and external relationships and facilitate program engagement activities, on Country, in community-based settings, and in office and/or virtual contexts, on general and technical tourism matters where they relate to the development of Indigenous tourism experiences.
• Contribute to innovative delivery of a suite of projects to support the program and accelerate the aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their communities and other First Nation partners in relation to their tourism aspirations.
• Provide high level support to develop, prepare and review resources and products to support the growth of partnership approaches that will foster the economic development of the tourism industry, with a particular focus on business development of Indigenous tourism operators and experiences. .
• Undertake research and assist in the preparation of project plans, documents, reports, briefings and executive correspondence.
• Participate as a proactive team member in contributing to the team and branch outcomes and supervise and mentor staff as required to build capability and resilience within the team.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
