Parliamentary Services is seeking a professional and proactive Electorate Officer to join Ms Bisma Asif Member for Sandgate. This dynamic role supports the Member in delivering services to constituents, engaging with community organisations, and managing the daily operations of a busy electorate office.

Key Objectives

  • Provide high‑quality secretarial, executive, and administrative support to the Member.
  • Assist and engage with constituents and community groups, helping to resolve enquiries and concerns.
  •  Manage the daily administration and smooth functioning of the Electorate Office.

Your Role

  • Manage the Member's diary, coordinate appointments, community events, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Support and supervise Assistant Electorate Officers or volunteers when required.
  • Prepare briefing material, correspondence, research, parliamentary information and maintain systems to ensure the Member has timely and accurate information.
  •  Monitor community issues through media, networks, and constituent interactions, ensuring the Member remains informed.
  • Liaise with Parliamentary Travel and assist with travel arrangements and acquittal processes.
  •  Provide executive support including documentation, record‑keeping, data entry and managing incoming information.
  • Respond to constituent enquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing information, referrals, and assistance.
  • Maintain community networks and liaise with government agencies, departments and local organisations.
  • Support community engagement by coordinating events, attending local functions, preparing newsletters, surveys and correspondence.
  • Oversee general office administration including ordering supplies, maintaining document systems, reporting security issues and assisting with office stocktake.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with people from all backgrounds.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgement.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently, particularly when the Member is absent from the office.
  • Strong literacy, computer skills, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • A commitment to the Member's values and the Parliamentary Service values of Innovation, Learning, Integrity, Clients and People.
