The electrical safety office is dedicated to improving electrical safety and reducing risk of death and injury from electrical shock, fire and explosion. The exciting duties you will be exposed to:
• You will be exposed to the lifecycle of electrical equipment, from the conception of the design of the electrical safety equipment up until the end of the cycle. This will include exposure to national and international electrical safety standard, certification process and regulation through the national electrical safety system
• Contribute to the ongoing development of electrical safety in Queensland through legislation, standards and codes with emphasis on industry knowledge and technological developments in electrical and electronics equipment, including emerging technology and renewables
• Undertake projects requiring a degree of research and technical expertise on a range of electrical equipment safety, legislative and operational issues
• Participate in the auditing and investigation of unapproved or defective electrical equipment, or fires resulting from electrical causes, and preparation of reports.
• Contribute to the raising of electrical safety awareness in the electrical industry and wider community through participation in presentations and education initiatives
• Continually develop skills and knowledge through participation in formal and informal training

What We're Looking For:
First and foremost we are looking for someone to bring their passion! To succeed in this role you will also need:
• Minimum second year electrical engineering or a related field, such as electrical and renewable power OR Graduate of an advanced diploma in engineering - electrical field or equivalent
• Knowledge of/ passion to learn electrical safety principals of electrical equipment, evaluating test reports and equipment for compliance with Australian Standards.
• To be able to Support strategic direction by undertaking an objective and systematic approach in providing technical advice regarding electrical equipment safety.
• The ability to achieve results through contributing to technical research and related activities, and seeks feedback from supervisor to gauge satisfaction and seeks guidance when required.
• To be able to effectively communicate with influence, confidently presenting messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner. Listens carefully to others and checks to ensure their views have been understood. Negotiates confidently and identifies relevant stakeholder expectations and concerns.
• To display personal drive and integrity by taking personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work, showing initiative and doing what's required. Acts professionally at all times and operates within the boundaries of organisational processes and legal and public policy constraints.
